Zuni and the headstones...

No, it's not the name of a bad rock band. It's an update of life at Alexis House. (Still working on a good name for the new place.)

We have added a new member to our family. His name is Zuni, and he is a love.

I will have to write about the headstones later. Sorry...

Happy Birthday Bri!!!

I know this is a very late post for her birthday, but here it is...

Brianne celebrated her 15th birthday almost 2 weeks ago, with a party 2 days before. Bri had friends over, we bbq'd hamburgers and hotdogs, played games (limbo, musical chairs and the wooden spoon and the spatula game...) and had a water balloon fight which I started...inside the house. I will post more pics as soon as I get them on the computer.

4. we were renting a house from my Mom.

1. I enjoyed a family trip to San Francisco where we got to play tourist while visiting Alcatraz, the Exploratorium, two aquariums and Coit Tower.
2. I was planning a family trip to Disneyland.
3. I really wanted to buy a new car.
4. I started thinking we were close to being reading to buy a house, so the car would have to wait.

So far this year I...

1. have worked 60 hours a week for up to 6 weeks while fires threatened to level Paradise.
2. have bought and moved into a house that we will have a hard time outgrowing.
3. have almost raised all the money I need for the Susan G Komen 3 Day Cancer Walk in November. (I was scheduled to walk in San Francisco in September, but with all Brianne's medical issues, I have rescheduled for the last walk of the year.)
4. have had an internal fire for adoption and foster care re-ignited in my heart.

Yesterday I...

1. left work early because the school nurse thought Brianne may be having another episode.
2. walked partway home while I was waiting for Cam to pick me up. (The van is in the shop, again.)
3. drove Brianne 2 hours to her KP pediatrician to make sure it was just a bug she was catching and not new symptoms to the current problem.
4. got back home from Sac while it was still daylight, woohoo!

Today I...

1. slept through my alarm but was not late to work.
2. found a handsome German Short-haired Pointer up for adoption.
3. can't wait to get home and work on the house some more.
4. have to make something yummy to take to the block party tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will...

1. try not to sleep through my alarm.
2. attend my first block party, on our new block.
3. help Bri and Joce get everything ready for the coming school week.
4. make Joce's lunch for school Monday.

In the next year I will....

1. save enough to have a new roof put on the new house.
2. make plans for acquiring a new vehicle.
3. complete my trek in the Susan G Komen 3 Day Cancer Walk in San Diego in November; 60 miles in 3 days.
4. make a valid effort to keep in contact with old friends.
and...
5. Celebrate Cam's 38th birthday, my 34th, Bri's 16th, Jocelyn's 7th and Claire's 3rd. (I think that covers everyone living in my house right now.)

Thank you Kim! Now I pass the torch to:
1. Beth
2. Niffer
3. Trisha
4. Martha

Will they ever figure it out?

Brianne has been in and out of the hospital a total of three times in the last two weeks; 7 days out of 14. I am SO ready for the doctors to figure out what is wrong and get her on the road to recovery, treatment, anything but this awful limbo. I have been praying for the doctors to find the answer. One of the chaplains we use at the department called me while I was waiting outside the pediatrician's office yesterday, to pray with me. Thank you Jack.

Brianne has had 20 vials of blood drawn, 3 MRI's, 2 MRA's, a Lumbar Puncture (spinal tap) and a urine test. On Monday she goes back to the lab for another blood draw and another urine test. On Thursday, she has an appointment for another MRI and MRA. We are waiting for appointments with the other two referral doctors. Even with all the tests, we still do not have a true lead on what is causing the headaches, vertigo and neurological problems. The closest thing we have is a 'possible' problem with the size of something in her cerebellum. So, we wait...and I pray...and I ask others to pray...

In the midst of all the trips 2 hours south to the hospital, we are trying to move into, clean and paint our new house. The power will be turned off at the old house on the 19th, so getting out and getting it cleaned, making any last repairs and painting have a major deadline. If you love to clean, haul boxes or paint, let me know. I could sure use the help! (Beth and Pam, I will be calling on you!)

Here are some more pics of Bri during her stays at the hospital...

I will blog more when I know more. Until then, please pray for the doctors to find an answer...
